The story I liked the most was of The Dog and the Shadow. This story would be a good one to rewrite for my weekly story. The dog trying to bite his own reflection in the water and losing his meat in the process really reminds me of the whole "the grass is always greener on the other side" parable. It is easy to forget about what you have and lose it by trying to always get something new. There are a lot of ways I could rewrite this story. It would be interesting to make it people instead, but it would be more difficult to relate back to the original story. I think I would make it as someone who works really hard. A man who works himself so hard just trying to get rich, that in the end he is neither rich nor happy because he has worked himself to death. He tells his children on his deathbed to never work so hard for money, for it is the ultimate "grasping at the shadow" and to enjoy your life you have for it too can be gone in an instant.
