Reading Notes: Persian Tales Part A

For the reading extra credit this week I decided to read the Persian Tales. My favorite was the story of the Wolf-Aunt.

I liked the aspect of the fake sister, and the gullible husband/brother. If I rewrote this story I do not know if I would keep it as a werewolf story. I do know that I would keep the aspect of "you should have listened to your wife."

To me, this story would remind me most of a relationship and a third person trying to enter in.

If I were to rewrite it, I think I would do two people in a relationship and an "other woman" trying to come into the picture. The girl knows what is going on but the guy denies it and says the other girl is "just being friendly." Eventually the girl gets tired of it and leaves, and the guy is stuck with the other woman, when he realizes his now ex girlfriend was right all along and he should have listened to her, and he regrets losing her.

I like more realistic stories than fantastical ones, and I think it is interesting that this story was meant to scare children away from their aunts, because the moral I got was definitely listen to your wife.
